  • 2 years in the making

This be a warning to all the ladies
Who be wanting to drop their panties an’ have his babies
Best watch out for this fool I be talkin bout
To fall for him, girl, be takin the wrong route

    Refrain:
    Mislabeled as a playa
But he be lovin all the haters
    If your mother only knew
What, what with him, you’d like to do

That boy be poison and if I were you I’d take precaution
This fool be toxic and you’ll be slipping under
In the black spectre it’ll be just your heart torn apart

While he be stylin fresh and illmatic
He’s got the charm of a hopeless romantic
Catch a falling star to make your wish
    Only he could accomplish this
Hold your hand to steady your calm,
Assure you that there ain’t no stronger bond
    Than this

Dropping compliments like easy baby-makin beats
To put your mind at ease
Melt in your ears, these compliments like treats be too sweet
And you question, were they meant for me? Are we meant to be?

Girls falter and faint fearing his indifference
He be the definition of every girls’ limerence
He be usin his powers of attractability
    This fool’s got infinite capabilities

    Mislabeled as a playa
But he be lovin all the haters
    If your mother only knew
What, what with him, you’d like to do

This boy’s got his own unique vocabulary
An’ Webster’s dictionary be his number one adversary
You’ll be trippin from the words that be slippin from his tongue
He got the skills to make you feel that you that special some
One day he’ll take you to the park
He’ll take you by the hand
With some sweet talkin he’ll have you walkin’
beneath those bright lights til the end of the night

This fool be lovin the Michael Moscovitz
To be princess Mia be his first wish
He’s got moves Donald Faison be jealous of
He’s holdin the skills that all the ladies love

Legendary are his skills that be infinite
    On that long ass list
So let’s start with the hip hop, pop and lock lookin so hot
So good, it’ll make the boys panties
Droppin the beats, sweet sweet melodies
Stylin, he be reppin from the BAY-ay-ay
    Playin DJ
    on the ones and twos
Ay bay bay, what it do?

Baby no worries, this boy’s got passion
He’ll quench your thirst with a glass of lemonade
Play with your heartstrings with a sweet serenade
Knows how to work the x-acto
You’ll think it’s all an act though it ain’t
His momma found his cans of spray paint
This fool knows how to make a stencil
All this be enough to worry the parentals

    Mislabeled as a playa
But he be lovin all the haters
    If your mother only knew
What, what with him, you’d like to do

    Mislabeled as a playa
But he be lovin all the haters
    If your mother only knew
That u was tryin to get with him.

    this Kind of Love

this wasn’t just any kind of love.

this was the kind of love that made you hurl your phone across the bedroom

    kind of love

    this was the screaming-yelling-shouting

    kind of love

this was a spam and eggs for breakfast in bed

    kind of love

this was the Boyz II Men-Aaliyah-Taylor Swift

    kind of love

it was this kind of love.

this was the buckle-your-seatbelt and reach for my hand

    kind of love

    this was a handmade presents

    kind of love

    but also the ohmygod-why-did-you-spend-so-much-money-but-thank-you-very-much

    kind of love

this was a him and her kind of love.

this was a virgin, touched for the very first time

    kind of love

it was a shirtless, smooth and soft skin

    kind of love

    and later the backseat fumble

    kind of love

this was a she and he kind of love.

this was a grownup kind of love

the kind that had eliminated first names, in exchange for identical nicknames instead

    kind of love

this was an apocalyptic kind of love

even though I know you hate that kind of thing

    kind of love

this was a me kind of love,

    a you kind of love.

this was a second kind of love

the kind of love that had grown timid from previous not-like-this-kind of loves

the kind of love that wouldn’t admit that

this was the kind of love that made you think “Ohmygod, I’m going to marry you someday.”

    kind of love

    a

    “Maybe.”

    kind of love.

    this was an

    I love you.

    kind of love

it was that kind of love.

    ----

this was a him and her kind of love.

a she and he kind of love.

    a

    me and you

    you and me

    kind of love.

    our kind of love.

    I mean,

    this—goddammit

    was love.

    never again.

i'll stick to the lyrics i know. which is pretty much only AAR and Rooney. and everybody else.

waiting for the Ting Tings to leave Pink behind.

upcoming video short: a parody on how best friends think, say, and do the same things simultaneously.

  • we can do it on the floor if you want.

    that's what she said.

we're gonna be up all night.

    that's...

    yeah.

surprised how much you can do in a weekend.

on Thursday, after work we went to the church for rehearsal.  rehearsal was stressful and disorganized.  the "stage manager," an elderly filipina whose name i never got, was in desperate need of a microphone or at least knowledge of an attention getter.  it was difficult to here her.  she was impatient, pushy, and belittling.

after the rehearsal, we went to world gourmet buffet. the fries were good.  morgan, vanessa, adam, and i sat at a booth.  a happy birthday song came on loudly and unexpectedly.  i'm still unsure if it was sherlyn's birthday or not.

after the dinner, morgan came home with us. we waited for chuck to get to union city and we headed to century to watch the long-anticipated Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.  we went crazy: we purchased a small popcorn, nachos, cotton candy, a large tea, and pretzel bites.  i didn't even eat the nachos.  the chips are now tostitos in bags and they were incredibly salty. some guy pointed a stick at me and stared at me as he walked past.

the movie was exceptional in some ways. i enjoyed the snogging and harry on liquid luck.

on friday, i took morgan to work.  it was the last day of cardio and to celebrate we set up a cardio kickboxing obstacle course relay.  it consisted of jump rope, hoola hoops, and hurdles.  my bad was having girls go one after the other.  it took less than 2 minutes to run.  the girls left early for a field trip so we got off at 1o'clock.

after work, i wanted to get a pedicure. we went to the nail genie area and found a cafe called jenjon's to eat. we both got vegetarian sandwiches and milk tea. it was quite appetizing.  then she got a mani and i got a pedi. both french. we finished at the same time and we left to go to my consultation for my teeth. dr. oka remembered me and he's really chill. i like him. i got the estimate and it doesn't cost 5 Gs like i thought. only 2 Gs. yay! and i have to cover about 1000 but i had the option of applying for a credit card. i will be paying for it for a year.

after the consultation, we visited auntie lolly and spike. we went to the pool. i didn't have bottoms so i just work black cotton spandex shorts. but i wore black shorts over those. so before i got into the pool i pulled off my shorts. but i had already removed my shorts. so i caught a flash of my bare naked front before realizing this, and swiftly pulled them back up. glanced around to see if anyone had noticed. there was one woman a few chairs in front of me, and who didn't illicit any response. then again, who would?
i challenged morgan to race across the pool. i lost, of course. we went into the spa and then left. showered, then ate nilaga. auntie lolly had previously burned gramma pilar's adobo.

we returned to my house and ate our leftovers. morgan wanted to re-do our stop animotion for the wedding. we wanted to make it so that the cards were actually moving. it took us:

1 hour to figure out the lighting
    1 hour to film it
2.5 hours to charge the battery
    4.5 to edit it

    roughly.

we were to meet sherlyn at the hotel at 7:30am to go to the salon to get our hair and makeup done.
we went to sleep at 5:45am. and got up at 7:25am.

when we got to the salon, sherlyn and the bridesmaids were almost done.  morgan asked for her hair to be down and i asked for an updo.  everyone else left to go back to the hotel.  morgan text me and we proceeded to have a conversation over our phones while sitting 2 chairs away from each other.

i liked my hair. it was crunchy though.

we got to the hotel and were much pressed for time. we couldn't get our makeup done fast enough. we had to take lots of pictures. the photograph was late.  we rode in a limo and it was like prom.

we got to the church and they rolled out a red carpet. it was approximately 2 feet long. we took more pictures and took our places at the door. i met my partner and let him know what was up.

then begins the ceremony. morgan and her partner... paul? began walking and i was calling after them to hold hands. during our turn, i was talking through my toothy smile, and when we arrived near the altar mikael as when to bow and i said now.  i wonder if anyone heard me talking.

when sherlyn walked down the aisle, i was watching mac.
when sherlyn and mac took their vows, i was watching auntie and uncle.

they made an unbreakable vow. it was sealed with a dash of holy water.

when we were making our exit we got to the door and made a u-turn around the pews to end up back at my seat.

    i applied mascara between pictures.

we were to go to a park to take more pictures, but got lost so we just went to the reception.

salad, meat, oh! we premiered our apples to apples. about 5 people could read the words. mac, sherlyn, and jon thanked us. margie asked how we did it. magic, i said.

dance, dance, dance, drink, drink, dance, drink, dance.

they threw the boquet, and a guy caught it at the table. they were gonna do a re-throw. i asked vanessa if she wanted to go to try to catch it.  as we're walking over sherlyn throws it and a bunch of people try to catch it, but it goes over their heads and behind them, to land at my feet. so i picked it up.
then followed a confusing and slightly uncomfortable tradition. i sat on a chair on stage so the guy could put the garter on my leg. egh! i made a face, so he said he'd do it really fast.

after the reception, we stayed with morgan's parents at the hotel room to wait for mac and sherlyn. we  ate chocolate chip cookies in bed and watched shrek. mac and sherlyn were ready to go. sherlyn, no longer in her white wedding dress and now mrs. sherlyn lopez, was dressed in a cotton shirt, hoodie, jeans, and flip flops.

we envied her. so we found all our stuff in their room, said our goodbyes and thank yous, and parted ways. when we go to the car, morgan and i took pictures. i didn't have my camera all day.

after the wedding, morgan and i tried on different shades of lipgloss. i ended up giving her most of mine.

after sleeping, finally, i woke up at 7am to go to AIDS Walk SF. but morgan checked online to apply as a transfer to san jose state and it turns out there is major crisis ocurring. the state schools are not accepting admissions for Spring 2010.  as in, thousands of students are screwed for now.

    ...

i took the BART to the Civic Center and MUNI to Golden Gate Park.  i walked with Katie, Ryley, Katie's mom, and aunt. i was tried mulitple times to call chuck, but when i got a hold of him, we were starting to walk and Material Girl was blasting from 10 rows of speakers. what i was incoherent and misunderstood by me was that auntie cathy was driving chuck on the golden gate bridge to get his car that was fixed in daly city so that he could go to the walk. he got there when we were on mile 4. the walk was pretty uneventful. my dad and ronald were there, too.

after the walk my team left and i waited for chuck near the prize table. i was fine, but then i thought about how he didn't walk with me and how 2 year ago, he didn't come at all. and i got upset with tears. i just wanted to leave fast. but we trudged a long walk to his car and i had no idea where it was, so i had to follow his slow walk because i didn't want to talk to him. he did apologize, and i know it wasn't his fault.

after that, we went to visit layna, tad, and ryan. layna's house looks like a cottage. it has a tall, wooden gate and is surrounded by a clay wall. it is gorgeous inside, very modern and clean and cute...

she gave us a tour of the dining room, kitchen, living room, and bedrooms. when i thought she was done, she said, there's a downstairs, too. chuck and i were surprised. we took a row of tiny, steep steps down to another living room that was ryan's play area, a corner by the windows that was layna's sewing area, and to the left another room for guests, complete with a full bath that was remodeled apparently because it was previously a dungeon.

before we ate, i wanted to show chuck how ryan is a genius. we were playing in his room and i made him read some words like "trains and locomotives" and "freight train." everytime he reads a word, i am happily shocked. he punctuates his answers with, "how did you know that?" as if to mock us. he showed chuck his magazine and named the cars in them.

while he played in his room and read apparently, they fed us pasta, mozzarella sald, chips and guacamole, pineapple and watermelon. and we talked and talked. it was a warm, fun, light hearted conversation.

we showed them our first apples to apples version, mind's eye, and the strangers sweded. too bad no twilight sweded. they said we should get on that train.

after layna's, chuck drove me partially home. we stopped and switched so i drove us to BART where we took an hour nap. then we went to starbucks, said goodbye, and went to our respective homes.

    the end.

  • come cluster.

    life's pretty sweet.
i am appreciating work.  i am working in Oakland at Concordia Park for Girls Inc. AmeriCorps.  i graduate from AmeriCorps on Friday, July 31st.

i teach cardio kickboxing right now.  i am the only group leader that is not co-leading.  for session 2, i will be co-teaching tennis with Jamane.

we do not have the resources to play an iPod, despite downloading 984263 MB worth of 80s and 90s hits, so i resorted to my 80s movie hits cd for week one.  this week, i popped in michael jackson.  all the girls love it.

i am learning and growing as a teacher and youth worker.

    after work..
on monday, cari and i did our cardio kickboxing workout.
on tuesday, i picked up allison and we danced the 'aparima in my garage.
on wednesday, i visited auntie lolly and hung out with ryan, taylor, and spike.  ryan suggested i purchase an audi.  he's 3.
on thursday, i went to the dentist.  i still have my wisdom teeth.  i made an appointment with dr. oka's receptionist.

today i went to ross with the intention of buying a brand name purse for cheap that was mid-size.  i found one and also some sandals, but apparently didn't like the bag enough.  i left to check out forever21 and bought a dress instead. then i returned to ross only to buy the sandals too. i'm obsessed with shoes, especially sandals.  flip flops = evil.

sandra called to go to ihop. me, alex, and sandra ate at IHOP and talked about our future future wedding plans. what will the party favor be?  sandra shared she already has her wedding cake topper purchased from disneyland. a ceramic cinderella and prince charming.  we all agreed we can wait cause we wanna live first; move out, and go to vegas.

we went back to sandra's and wanted to do something. alex mentioned there's no place for us to hang out.  tuttimelon attracts the hella young folk.  and then i mentioned happy hour.  so we walked to tgif but changed our minds for the cheaper drinks at chevy's. good choice.  we got peach, watermelon, and midori melon margaritas for 3.25 and free chips and salsa.  mmm.  the peach was the best.

i'm excited cause now we have plans to go clubbin in san jo next weekend.  i need dancing friends.
